This blog is about Francis O’Neill, focusing on his life and works. Born in West Cork in 1848 and eventually becoming Chicago chief of police. He also collected and published many of the jigs and reels that are so central to Irish music. His life was full of adventure and music and I hope to post many pieces of interest from both here.
