Gaeilge Bhriste

Gaeilge Bhriste means “Broken Irish”: a phrase which unfortunately sums up my proficiency with the language. Shirley O’Regan, the show’s host, also discusses Irish music and literature, and invited me on her program. Shirley has an impressive knowledge of O’Neill and the music; even starting the show with her own rendition of the hornpipe, Chief O’Neill’s Favourite. She also included a recording of The Swallow’s Tail reel from the Dunn Family Collection.

Our discussion was also broadcast on West Limerick FM on the 9th of December, 2021. It was great fun chatting with Shirley on some of my favourite topics! Click the link below to listen back.
